Analysis of portal hemodynamics in liver cirrhosis by color Doppler ultrasound

Summary: | Analysis is presented of 179 of liver cirrhosis (LC), including 63 with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and 188 cases of non-liver cirrhosis (N-LC). In the LC group, velocity was decreased but the cross-sectional area was significantly enlarged, so there was no significant difference in volume between the two groups at the portal trunk (PV), significant correlations Were seen between the volume of the spleen and velocity, cross-sectional area and volume at the hilus of the spleen (HSV) of the LC. Each Child-Pugh classification for the LC group was investigated at the PV of three factors. No significant differences were seen between the three groups. As regards changes in posture from the supine to the left decubitus position, there was a significant decrease at the right portal vein (RPV) of each group and a significant increase at the umbilical portion (UP) in all but the class C group. Differences were observed most often in the non-LC group. We must also take into consideration the effects of intrahepatic portal shunting. With regard to portal blood flow by changes posture, in the non-LC group, the movement may causes gravitation but in the LC group, the other causes may exist. |
