Summary:The calculation of transmission system reliability for planning has been implemented in a computer program, the Transmission Reliability Analysis Program (TRAP). Based on the concept of Load Supplying Capability (USC) of a transmission network, TRAP provides quantitative information concerning network adequacy. These reliability indices, which measure the capacity of a transmission system and the probability that transmission events result in loss of load, are illustrated using the EPRI Synthetic System D.
