Summary: | •A novel self-sustainable hybrid biogas plant for round year gas production.•Energy payback time, production factor, Life cycle conversion efficiency calculated.•N-PVT-FPC collector active heated biogas plant has been analyzed.•Annual thermal energy and exergy are 19.6 MWh and 1.9 MWh respectively.•Carbon credit earned was 95,658.29 $.
Over time, hybrid energy systems have shown their effectiveness in meeting energy demands, achieving higher energy production, consistent power supply, saving energy costs, environmental benefits, and proving a sustainable solution to the growing energy demands. Worldwide researchers are looking for a hybrid, self-sustained energy system consisting of biogas and solar energy for round year high biogas production. However, an attempt has been made to evaluate the energy matrix like Energy payback time (EPBT), Energy production factor (EPF) and Life cycle conversion efficiency (LCCE) for a hybrid N-semi-transparent photovoltaic thermal and flat plate collector N-sPVT-FPC integrated biogas plant. Annual overall thermal energy and exergy are found to be 38.14 MWh and 20.41 MWh respectively. The EPBT was 2.74 years, and the energy production factor was found to be 0.3647 on an energy basis. EPF and LCCE were increasing with increasing lifetime of the system. The carbon credit during the entire lifetime was $ 1,59,602.6 by the proposed setup. The findings of this study underscore the viability and sustainability of the hybrid N-sPVT-FPC integrated biogas plant as a solution to meet energy demands. |
