Summary:Chylous ascites is a rare manifestation of decompensated cirrhosis that is associated with increased short-term mortality. Exclusion of other etiologies must be performed to allow for appropriate management, which itself can be a challenge in the setting of decompensated cirrhosis. We report a case of chylous ascites in a patient with decompensated cirrhosis that was successfully managed with octreotide before liver transplantation.
