Summary:Effluent samples obtained from five veal operations in northern California over a 12-week period were chemically analyzed. Total Solids produced per day per livestock weight were about 20% of that estimated for beef feeders. The percentages of Volatile Solids and N, P, K nutrients were also considerably lower but the aerobic biodegradability of the Volatile Solids, determined by the BOD 5 test, was about 70% higher.
