Summary:Recently, the demand for HVDC is increasing and interest in the application of eco-friendly insulating materials is increasing. Therefore, there is a trend of increasing interest in cable joint in HVDC transmission using eco-friendly power cables. In this paper, the space charges in the interface between different insulators generated in the power cable joint were occurred. The space charge characteristics of LSR and XLPE, which are insulators used in cable joints, and I-PP, an eco-friendly insulating material, were evaluated, and the space charge characteristics at the interface between LSR and XLPE, and between LSR and I-PP were compared. As a result, in a single-layer dielectric, I-PP showed better space charge properties than XLPE. However, in the double-layer dielectric, more space charges were accumulated in LSR/I-PP than in LSR/XLPE.
