Summary:Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect, and heart transplantation is the main treatment of choice. As genetic causes can be identified in a considerable proportion of cases, investigation of possible family cardiac history is essential. We analyzed the profiles of pediatric heart transplant recipients in terms of family history of heart disease. This single-center retrospective study included pediatric patients who underwent heart transplantation at a tertiary hospital between 2013 and 2023. Out of 170 patients, 13 had a family history relevant to congenital heart disease, with an emphasis on the etiology of dilated cardiomyopathy and the occurrence of the same heart disease in siblings. These results can impact the management of patients with congenital heart disease.
