Summary:The police departments play an irreplaceable role in the prevention and suppression of domestic violence (DV). The new anti-domestic violence law was passed in 2015 and implemented in 2016 in China, and further clarified the legal responsibilities of police in DV cases. However, in practice, due to the lack of relevant rules, difficulties still exist in the implementation. In this study, information about the current situation of police intervention in DV cases was collected during group interviews with police officers from police stations, and residents' committee staffs. In discussing the difficulties and problems of implementation, we will advise on further improvement of the Anti-domestic Violence Law.
