Summary:Fiction films representing outbreaks of communicable diseases can be tracked to at least And the Children Play and Die Pest in Florenz. Since then, there has been a steady stream of films on the subject from around the world. Although he argues that the nascent genre is international, given the historical connection of genre cinema to Hollywood and the outsized influence of Anglophone popular and academic culture on the rest of the world, he undertake the analysis of English-language labels.
