Palladium-catalyzed Reaction of Olefins and Acetylenes with Iodoferrocenes

Iodoferrocene (1) reacts readily with olefinic compounds in the presence of a catalytic amount of palladium(II) acetate to produce alkenylferrocene derivatives. In the presence of a copper(I) iodide and palladium complex, 1 also reacts with acetylene to afford diferrocenylacetylene.
