Summary:Previously abstracted from original as item 9005-3.2-0057Y. Effect of magnesium on structure and phase composition of AK9M2 Al--Si alloy (7.7% Si, 1.2% Cu, 0.15% Mn, 0.22% Zn, 0.6% Fe, 0.3% Ni) was studied. Amount of Mg varied between 0.05-2%. By selecting cooling and heat treatment regime, amount of Fe--Al--Si--Mg--Ni compounds can be adjusted and properties of the alloys significantly improved. The problem of utilization of scrap containing Mg can also be solved. Graphs, Photomicrographs, Phase diagrams. 5 ref.--X-ref.(US).
