Photometric perturbations of distorted eclipsing systems within minima

Summary: | A previous analysis of the light curves of totally eclipsing binary systems is extended to account for the distortion of the shadow-cone of the eclipsing component in the study of the system's light changes within minima. It is noted that, as in the case of total eclipses of spherical stars, an extension of the analysis of light changes in the frequency domain can be carried out in closed form without the need of automatic computers. A generalization of the method to cover any type of eclipse is then presented. (R.R.) |
