Summary:Wastewater treatment system involving coagulation of surfactant pollutants in water was studied. The system is equipped with a micro galvanic couple based on iron filings. In spite of the high concentration of iron filings in the system, iron concentration in treated water is much lower than iron threshold limit value for drinking water. A simple optical system based on small light-emitting diode and a solid-state photodetector is proposed to control the concentrations of pollutants in water.
