In vitro propagation of fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Miller)
Rapid shoot propagation of fennel was achieved from shoot-tips excised from glasshouse- or field-grown plants, using a basal medium (BM) supplemented with 0.1 mg l−1 indoleacetic acid (IAA) and 0.1 mg l−1 benzyladenine (BA). Multiplication rates of 4.5–7.5 per month were obtained with different vari...

Summary: | Rapid shoot propagation of fennel was achieved from shoot-tips excised from glasshouse- or field-grown plants, using a basal medium (BM) supplemented with 0.1 mg l−1 indoleacetic acid (IAA) and 0.1 mg l−1 benzyladenine (BA). Multiplication rates of 4.5–7.5 per month were obtained with different varieties of fennel. Rooting of shoots was achieved in a medium lacking BA with 0.1 mg l−1 IAA. Rooted plantlets were easily transferred to soil. |
