Summary:ABSTRACT Aerosol samples were collected on Nucleopore filters at the South Pole Station. The particles were analyzed with an electron microscope for their morphology, size distribution, and concentration. The chemical composition of individual particles was determined with an X‐ray energy spectrometer. The results provide basic information on the physical and chemical properties of Antarctic aerosols as well as their source and journey.
