Summary: | In this Tutorial Brief, an unconventional overview on the phenomenon of jump resonance in nonlinear forced circuits and systems is presented. Instead of focusing on the analysis of its emergence to determine appropriate control actions aimed at avoiding its commonly considered negative effects, in this Tutorial Brief we show that jump resonance is often linked to the emergence of peculiar features that make it desirable for specific tasks. The main concepts are introduced by using a tutorial example, a concise state-of-the-art of the recent literature on the topic is given and the current trends related to its active use are discussed. |
