Societal attitudes toards queers are changing, yet many families continue to hold negative beliefs about homosexuality. e discuss hat therapists need to kno in order to ork ith these families and provide specific guidelines for this ork. Assessment topics are suggested, as are clinical techniques recommended for ork ith families ith a queer member. e focus on the family's loss of their heterosexual paradigm (using a grief and loss perspective) and suggest ays for the family to build a ne, more inclusive, paradigm.
