Summary: | The need for alternative energy is growing daily due to population growth and fuel consumption around the world. Hydrogen, as one of the promising alternative energy sources, is on the agenda worldwide. Methanol is a chemical compound that is rich in hydrogen. In this review, methanol decomposition reactions, such as photocatalytic, photothermal and thermal reactions, are examined and predictive results are discussed. The properties of an active catalyst and reaction conditions were studied.
