Summary:In this paper, we present the image analysis of the progress of deterioration of kaolin on the basisof the group-thoretic bifurcation theory. The digital images of such deterioration are obtained from the photos of kaolin under shear by an image scanner. These images, which are expanded in terms of the double Fourier series, are classified with reference to the rules of bifurcation. As a consequence of these, a realistic simulation of the progress of deterioration is realized on the basis of a firm theoretical basis.
