Summary: | Bacteriorhodopsin(BR) has been reported to adsorb or desorb moisture reversibly. The application of a quartz crystal coated with BR as a moisture sensor was investigated. Results show that a quartz crystal coated with BR is capable of monitoring moisture concentration. A near-linear relation of the change in frequency with moisture was obtained in the range from 0.1 v/v% to 2 v/v%. The performance as a moisture sensor has been maintained over more than 3 months. The performance is unchanged even if exposed to an environment of 100°C for ten hours. |
