Summary:The increase in the impact factor of Obesity is a tribute to their insights into "hot" emerging topics and their successful solicitation of submissions from great scientists. The main points are the following: (1) the other person's idea, even if controversial today, might turn out to be true; (2) even if one's own opinion is largely correct, one can endorse it more rationally and securely if the ideas are freely challenged; and (3) it is likely opposing views each contain part of the truth and that the combination is more powerful than either side alone.
