Summary:This paper deals with the spatially homogeneous and inhomogeneous planktonic system with toxin-producing and infectious phytoplankton species. For the spatially homogeneous framework, the asymptotic conduct of various possible equilibrium points and the presence of Hopf-bifurcation around the endemic equilibrium point are investigated. Turing instability of the endemic equilibrium solution is explored for the model system with zero-flux boundary constraints. In particular, the parameters concerning the Turing instability domains are determined. The findings of numerical simulations exhibit the formation of ring-shaped patterns, moon-shaped patterns, spiral patterns, and chaotic patterns with different population density distribution over the spatial domain.
