Summary:Problem solving while using creative thinking is vital for generating ideas by individuals and teams. In this study, creative problem skills of individuals and teams based on perceptions of their creativity and their assessment of five creative advertisements was assessed. The experiment was completed using 10 participants in five teams while working on a retail environment problem using virtual reality. Different creativity assessment tools (CPS, CSDD & CPSS) were used for evaluating individuals and teams. The CPS scale scores ranged from 4.30 ± 0.67 (have done things others find strange) to 1.50 ± 0.97 (avoided reading difficult material), while for the CSDD the scores ranged from 3.50 ± 0.97 (solving their own problems) to 2.80 ± 1.93 (art). There was no particular pattern on how individuals selected the advertisements using the CPSS scale. This study demonstrated that individuals with different personalities from different disciplines, and varying degrees of creativity can problem solve in teams effectively.
