Summary: | A 52-year-old woman with a cough and fever had been taking tamoxifen 20 mg/daily for 8 months after breast-conserving surgery. Chest radiograpy and computed tomography showed consolidation with air bronchography in the middle and lower fields of the left lung and was diagnosed with bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP). Symptoms and radiographic findings improved with oral administration of prednisolone. When tamoxifen was resumed because it could not be ascertained whether this medication was the cause of the problem, chest radiography showed a frosted glass appearance in the upper fields of the right lung. The case was diagnosed as drug-induced pneumonia due to tamoxifen. |
