Summary:The paper presents the results of experimental and forecasting studies of bending characteristics of contemporary stiffening fabrics made of synthetic threads and mixed yarn containing both chemical and natural fibers. The bending characteristics of stiffening fabrics were studied by the ring method using a developed automated measuring system. The ability of fabrics to recover their shape after bending was assessed according to the value of elasticity and the work of recovery after bending – a characteristic that has no analogs in textile material science. The value of the recovery work after bending was forecasted using an intelligent system based on the developed and registered “Neuro-Prognosis” software program.
