Summary:We experienced an operated case of left adrenal ganglioneuroma. An asymptomatic 48-year-old man was detected to have a 10×6cm mass between the spleen and left kidney by ultrasonography during a routine health care examination. Laboratory data were almost normal including sera levels of catecolamines. Needle biopsy under ultrasonography to obtain the definite diagnosis offered a suspicion of pheochromocytoma with class 3. The tumor with left adrenal gland was completely removed. The definite diagnosis of benign ganglioneuroma was made based on pathological findings. Ganglioneuromas present difficulty in preoperative diagnosis even though several examinations including needle biopsy are performed. Further studies to make the definite diagnosis of the disease would be necessary.
