Summary:Creating and managing a successful obstetric and gynecologic (OB hospitalist) program requires careful attention to multiple aspects of the program. Appropriate policies and procedures need to be created. The clinical team needs to be selected and trained. Measurement of clinical and operational activity needs to be implemented and transparently shared with the team and the hospital partner. This all should be done with the hospital's goals for the program in mind and recognizing the type of clinical care that the hospital provides for obstetric patients in its community.
