Summary:A new general approach to the calculation of entrainment in different heat- and mass-transfer apparatus is suggested. It is based on the static drop size distribution in the apparatus space. The relations of drop entrainment on different heights to those at the evaporation level and to drop size- and coordinate distributions are obtained. An expression for transported entrainment is obtained as a particular case. The effect of transverse drop transfer and their carrying-out on the apparatus walls on the entrainment is considered. The examples of using general relations for entrainment description in apparatus of different types on the basis of distribution model functions are given.
