Summary:The pylolysis of cobalt phthalocyanine (Co-Pc)and nickel phthalocyanine(Ni-Pc)was studied at several temperatures up to 1000C under argon atmosphere. The sublimation of Co-Pc and Ni-Pc began at 500C, and the weight loss by sublmiation was larger for the latter compared. to the former. Both Co-Pc and NPc decomposed at about 750C with libeation of nitrogen and the metal and changed to carbonaceus structure at 800C The decomposition of Co-Pc was more conspicuous than that of Ni-Pc. It is infeed from these experiments that the phtha1ocyanine is transformed into carbon structure from b-type structure by way of a-type structure.
