Summary:Three-component reaction of indole, aromatic aldehyde, and N , N -dimethyl aniline in the presence of silica-supported Fe(ClO 4 ) 3 as catalyst afforded the corresponding 3-[aryl(4-dimethylaminophenyl)methyl]-indoles in excellent yields under mild conditions. The proposed protocol offers some remarkable advantages such as the use of a solid catalyst and simple workup procedure.
