Interferometric study of the growth kinetics of K2Co(SO4)2 · 6H2O and K2Ni(SO4)2 · 6H2O crystals

The growth kinetics of the (001) and (110) faces of K 2 Co(SO 4 ) 2 · 6H 2 O and K 2 Ni(SO 4 ) 2 · 6H 2 O crystals in the kinetic mode has been in situ investigated for the first time by laser interferometry. The method used makes it possible to measure the slope p of the growing vicinal hillock and...

Summary:The growth kinetics of the (001) and (110) faces of K 2 Co(SO 4 ) 2 · 6H 2 O and K 2 Ni(SO 4 ) 2 · 6H 2 O crystals in the kinetic mode has been in situ investigated for the first time by laser interferometry. The method used makes it possible to measure the slope p of the growing vicinal hillock and the normal growth rate R . The average step velocity ν = R/p as a function of supersaturation σ has been calculated based on these data. The kinetic coefficients of steps are determined. Some conclusions on the optimal growth conditions for crystals are drawn.
