Summary: | Seventy one rice genotypes were studied for genetic variability, correlation and path analysis under irrigated and rainfed condition. The PCV values were greater than GCV, revealing little influence of environment in character expression. Analysis of variance was found to be significant for most of the traits, indicating that there is existence of genetic variability for these traits. High values of heritability along with genetic advance were observed for biological yield and harvest index. Grain yield was highly significantly and positively correlated with days to 50 per cent flowering, biological yield and harvest index, panicle length, flag leaf width and second leaf width under irrigated, whereas under rainfed condition panicle length and harvest index showed significant and positive correlation with grain yield. Biological yield and harvest index had positive direct effect on grain yield, hence selection of these two traits for grain yield will be effective. |
