Summary:A numerical study of the effect of admixing saturated water vapor into a stoichiometric hydrogen and oxygen mixture has been carried out in the isothermal combustion process in an ideal mixing reactor. Study of the isothermal combustion process of the mixture in the reactor makes it possible to determine the equilibrium composition of the combustion products for specific combustion conditions and possible minimum chemical underburning. In studying the process of combustion of a H 2 –O 2 –H 2 O mixture, 24 elementary chemical reactions were used. The calculation results makes it possible to control the efficiency of a combustion chamber during testing of experimental installations. The influence of pressure in the reactor on the combustion rate of the mixture was revealed. The calculations show that an increase in pressure increases the burning rate and reduces underburning. The limiting maximum proportion of water vapor, which ensures a stable combustion process, is determined as a function of reactor size and pressure of the reacting mixture.
