Summary:Theoretical magnitude—redshift relations calculated for the well known ΛCDM model and the C model, which differs in its description of the repulsive force, are compared with the observed ( m - M) ( z ) relation for Type Ia supernovae. The predictions of the ΛCDM and C models for the ( m - M)( z ) relation differ little at redshifts z ≤ 2, and both qualitatively correctly describe the observed dependence. However, the two models differ appreciably at redshifts z ≥ 3. Studies of the ( m - M)( z ) relation at redshifts z ≥ 3 may make it possible to approach a better understanding of the nature of the cosmological repulsive forces.
