Summary:The behavioral health setting is of great interest in the field of infection prevention and control. Similar to an inpatient setting, strict environmental decontamination procedures are needed in order to decrease the likelihood of pathogen transmission in behavioral health facilities. Unfortunately, dedicated environmental services professionals are rare in this setting. Since healthcare providers are often the only available employees to institute decontamination procedures, practical and effective disinfectants are needed.
