Summary: | Here, Nesi discusses his first editorial for JEAP, having taken over Co-Editorship from Ken Hyland at the beginning of 2018. He has been on the Editorial Board since the first issue, but his new role has enormously expanded my circle of EAP friends and associates, and I am only now beginning to fully appreciate the energy and dedication of JEAP contributors, old and new. Unfortunately in some parts of the world this link between EAP practice and EAP theory and research is becoming increasingly eroded. Gregory Hadley's book on English for Academic Purposes in Neoliberal Universities, referred to in Ken's editorial, chronicles the transfer of EAP Units from academic departments to administrative offices, and the resulting pressures on EAP practitioners working in a more 'corporate' environment. |
