Summary: | The local self-government, in the course of its sovereign activities, adopts acts of local law on a wide range of issues. One of such scopes is the issue of establishing a patron of a particular local government unit, which is gaining popularity, although the current legislation does not explicitly provide for the possibility to establish a patron of a local government unit. The issue to be analysed in the course of this article is the question of the circle of entities au-thorised to exercise the initiative for the establishment of a patron. The article analyses which entities exercise the legislative initiative for the subject resolu-tions in practice and how it relates to the legal regulations contained in acts and statutes regulating the functioning of local government units. The analysis allows conclusions to be drawn indicating that the circle of entities exercising the legislative initiative in the scope of a patron of a local government unit is wide and not always overlapping with the circle of entities indicated by law or statutes. |
