Summary:A new type of pedometer, called ALT pedometer, measuring three parameters (activity, lying time, temperature) has been developed and tested. This pedometer enables to select different time intervals between 1 and 60 min for continuous measuring. It provides excellent results in oestrus detection and enables to distinguish very well when the animal is active and when it rests. Thus, the pedometer may also serve to diagnose illness.
