Summary:This paper presents an interactive computer aided process planning system for rotational parts. This system has been created at Tongji University and named “TOJICAP”. It was designed to run on the VICTOR 9000 microcomputer and its program has been written in MS-BASIC. Through the use of the principle of group technology and according to the standard plans of Master Parts, the planning sheet of new part in certain family can be generated automatically. This system also provides the interactive approach by which the user can plan the process step by step for any other rotational part that is not included in part family. The output of system - planning sheet is easy in editing, modifying and completing. By means of TOJICAP system the efficiency of planners can be increased greatly. The operation of TOJICAP system is simple and the benefits are remarkable. In this paper, the principle and structure of TOJICAP system are described, and an example is illustrated.
