Summary:Rajasthan, state of India is known for its rich availability of minerals and stones like quartz, feldspar, gypsum, marble, sandstone, Kota stone etc. Mining of these materials required lots of energy in terms of their processing and disposing of waste. Fine fragment generated during polishing of stones is a serious issue for human health as well as environment. Present study was focused on mortar mixes (1:5) containing Kota stone slurry as substitution of cement from 0% to 20% with steps of 2.5% for cement. Total nine mortar mixes were studied on the basis of water absorption, density, compressive, flexural, tensile and adhesive strength. Results of the study reveal that the kota stone slurry has possibility to use as part of cement up to 10% replacement.
