Break-up effects in elastic scattering of 6Li ions

The elastic scattering of 156 MeV 6Li projectiles on 12C, 40Ca and 208Pb targets is calculated with an adiabatic model assuming an alpha-deutron cluster model for the ground and excited states of 6Li. The elastic scattering cross sections are calculated by allowing for the break-up of 6Li in the s,...

Summary:The elastic scattering of 156 MeV 6Li projectiles on 12C, 40Ca and 208Pb targets is calculated with an adiabatic model assuming an alpha-deutron cluster model for the ground and excited states of 6Li. The elastic scattering cross sections are calculated by allowing for the break-up of 6Li in the s, p and d waves. It is shown that the inclusion of the break-up effects improves the agreement between the theoretical predictions and the experimental data.
