Summary:Process mining enables manufacturing companies to analyse their business processes based on data collected in various IT-Systems. However, identifying, extracting and cleaning process data based on the business understanding is the most time-consuming part in process mining projects. We propose a Process Mining Data Canvas that supports the identification and understanding of business processes and the associated data in early stages of process mining projects. The canvas consists of various elements and questions, making it a central point of information for domain experts and process analyst alike. By providing guidance in these early process mining project stages, it streamlines the work of interdisciplinary project teams, and eases the subsequent data collection and analysis. We validate the canvas through the application in a real world scenario.
