New Synthesis of Alkyl Polysulfides by Treatment of Thiols, Disulfides and Thionitrites with Anhydrous Copper(II) Chloride

Reaction of several divalent organic sulfur compounds with copper(II) chloride in acetonitrile gave the corresponding disulfides or other polysulfides in good yields under mild conditions.
