Summary: | We treated six patients with isolated paralysis of the serratus anterior muscle due to long thoracic nerve palsy. Of these, five had sufferd spontaneous severe pain in the region of the shoulder followed by the deformity and the etiology was thought to be neuralgic amyotrophy. With paralysis of this muscle, not only the winging of the scapula but also limitation of the shoulder movement and easy fatigability occurred. Functional recovery was good in many patients and operative treatment was not necessary. |
