Summary: | Malignant hyperthermia is a rare disorder characterized by hyperpyrexia, muscle rigidity, tachycardia, and metabolic respiratory acidosis. The disease is known as one of the causes of anesthesia-related deaths. Recently we experienced a typical case of malignant hyperthermia during spinal surgery under general anesthesia. We could control the attack and the patient recovered completely. Then we performed a muscle biopsy on the patient and his mother, and obtained useful findings. |
