Summary: | Recently, we experienced a case of severe infection which was thought to be “Necrotizing fasciitis”. This case was female aged 65 years. There was no apparent history of trauma or insect bite. Pain, swelling and purple area of the skin occurred on the right forearm, and spread proximally and distally, and bulla began to form. This case was very prostrated and died within about 52 hours after the appearance of the original lesion. Hemolytic streptococci were isolated from the blood culture specimens, the fluid from the bulla and the culture material from the lesion. After examination, it was revealed that this case was suffering from multiple myeloma. |
