Summary:We have used Shapiro powered staplizer from 1988 and utilized especially intercarpal arthrodesis, phalangeal and metaphyseal fracture. Nine patients were perfomed intercarpal arthrodesis and eight cases got solid union within four months. Four cases were performed osteosynthesis and all cases got early and solid union within one month. All staples used showed no loosening and no back out. So we think only Shapiro staple has enough ability to fix carpal bone without other device. And in fracture cases, powered stapilizer is an effective procedure to fix phalangeal small fracture and metaphyseal fracture.
