Summary: | In 121 patients on long-term hemodialysis (HD), we found 12 cases with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). 21.6% of patients, undergoing hemodialysis for more than 10 years, were suffering from CTS. 16 hands of 9 cases were operated on. All hands were relieved from noctual pain immediately after operation. At surgery, we found amyloid deposit on tenosynovium of flexor tendons, and median nerves were oppressed in 8 hands. The sooner they were operated on, the better results they got. Conservative treatments have no effect on carpal tunnel syndrome in patients on hemodialysis. |
