Summary: | Thigh pain is one of the problems encountered after cementless hip arthroplasty. A comparative study of OMNIFIT and OMNIFLEX was done clinically and radiologically. Radiological findings were classified as normal, lucent and sclerotic at proximal, middle, lower and tip of the implant. Correlation between thigh pain and radiological changes were also studied. Incidence of both thigh pain and radiological changes in cases using OMNIFLEX were significantly less than those with OMNIFIT. The incidence of thigh pain correlated well with the incidence of the radiolucent line at the proximal part of the stem. A high incidence of thigh pain was seen in the group with combination of the radiolucent line at the proximal stem and sclerosis at the stem tip. |
