Summary: | For the past three years, five stiff elbows were treated with operative method in our hospital. Their ages ranged from 23 to 58 years (average, 46.2), and four cases were male and one case female. The causes of stiff elbow were: old trauma in two, osteoarthritis in three, and those with severe joint destruction. The mean range of motion before operation was 68 degrees (from 45° to 75°). An average postoperative improvement in the range of motion was 22 degrees resulting in a postopertive mean of 90 degrees (from 85° to 100°). Most gain was in flexion. Their elbows give no difficulty in normal activity. |
